Recently, at the SAMANTHA WILLS Showcase event, we taste tested their amazingly soft, salted caramel marshmallows, and safe to say we are hooked. Read below for a run down of how the business was conceptualised, plus, gain some tips around future marshmallow trends for brides.
How long have you worked in the industry?
Belinda has been in the hospitality industry for 18 years as a chef then private chef, but in the marshmallow trade for the last 2 years. Jo is a film production manager posing as a marshmallow provider for the last 2 years!
What inspired you to join the industry and begin Black Pantry?
The woman Belinda cooked for asked her to provide some ‘marshmallows like the ones I had years ago in St Tropez’ for Christmas gifts 2 years ago. We tasted the first batch of rosewater, and the rest is history as they say! She made Jo join forces with her and we are hooked.
What is your signature dessert and how did this come about?
I would have to say the Snickers marshmallow we crested especially for the uber talented Zoe Foster Blake would be our best selling marshmallow to date; it actually tastes like a soft divine Snickers in the form of a marshmallow!
What is your go-to dessert (and flavour) for a wedding favour?
I would have to say all the beautiful subtle hues of the rosewater and range blossom, dreaming of a violet and lavender for future brides.
What are your suggestions for a bride wanting to incorporate her personal style into wedding desserts?
We can add any flavours or beautiful hues to compliment their big day and we are eager to please. These beautiful marshmallows lend themselves so well to different flavours, textures and colours that their choices are endless! They are the chic, modern favour that will leave their guests pleasantly surprised.
