After growing up in the same small country town in NSW, SW Bride, Elise and her husband Steve, were married in November 2014. Although Elise (of Elyssium Blooms, one of our favourite florists here at SW HQ!) and Steve lived in close proximity for a number of years, the pair were only first introduced four years earlier while both living on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

In keeping with their annual tradition of a camping trip to Noosa, Steve, unbeknownst to Elise, along with her close friend, helped to plan a girls trip and organise a potential “client meeting”. As the girls made their way to the meeting spot, Elise noticed wooden signs hammered into the ground with each sign reading a single word. “WILL” - “YOU” - “MARRY”, then standing next to the sign reading “ME”, down on one knee, was Steve waiting to propose.

The couple’s colourful and personal ceremony took place in a private garden; a seemingly fitting location for a florist and horticulturalist. With inspiration taken from their natural surroundings and a focus on simplicity, the ceremony’s decor featured hydrangeas lining the aisle, beautiful handmade doors created by Steve and Elise’s stepfather and bags of flower petals on every seat for guests to throw in celebration.

The reception in contrast, featured 4 large installations, cascading with florals, mosses, greenery and beautiful bulbs to light up the room. With an emphasis on warm colours and a romantic atmosphere, pink accents flushed through every little detail and fairy lights hung over the dance floor. Speakeasy style music played as the guests enjoyed large share plates of Italian style food followed by the incredible four-tier chocolate cake. With 94 guests, large floral arrangements lined each row of wooden tables and candles held in glass were dispersed amongst the greenery. As the couple decided against both a wedding planner and stylist (but did utilise The Events Lounge to co-ordinate on the day), their individual style shone through, creating what Elise could only describe as a ‘true Wonderland’, full of things they loved.

Elise wore a beautiful blush pink dress with tulle layers and french lace, creating the perfect combination of romance and feminine styling. Elise teamed her SW Bridal Jewels (long elegant earrings, a delicate bracelet and ring) with a sparkling pair of flats. Her bridesmaids all wore varying styles of ivory dresses, chosen to suit each individual woman. Elise said each had ‘it's own personality’ but were all very feminine and not too formal. The bridesmaids wore nude shoes and were each given a personally chosen pair of earrings along with a Bohemian Bardot ring in Paw Paw & Gold as a gift, on the morning of the wedding.

Elise credits her favourite memories of her special day to the moment she put her dress on with her Mum, and of her Dad’s face when her first saw her. She also cherishes the moment when she was able to dance with her new husband Steve, surrounded by their loved ones.
