On a day that started like any other, Ebony and her boyfriend Heath set out for a bushwalk with their two dogs and a picnic (and unbeknownst to Ebony, an engagement ring). Perched atop a hill and overlooking the beautiful surrounds, Heath asked Ebony to marry him, and she tearfully accepted.
The Australian outdoors had been a long-time love of this gorgeous couple, as well as the setting for their engagement, so it was only natural for this to be the theme and backdrop of their special day. With the rolling mountains and stunning old buildings on the Belltrees Station property in the Hunter Valley, this proved to be the dream venue for the couple’s ‘I Do’s’.
It was truly an intimate affair for the couple, who planned the day themselves. The ceremony took place between two farmers’ cottages on the property, where original church pews had been set up and lovingly decorated with greenery from the surrounds. It was here that their sixteen friends and family sat to watch Ebony walk down the aisle in her breathtaking beaded bohemian gown created by Bo & Luca, to the tune of Angus & Julia Stone’s ‘The Wedding Song’. She wore SAMANTHA WILLS FINE jewels, as well as a headpiece beneath her exquisite veil, and Heath cut a handsome figure as he awaited her arrival dressed in his dark navy suit. In keeping with the intimate tone of the day, it was their close friend who performed the ceremony and married the two.
Nestled on the banks of the Hunter River, the bridal party kicked off the celebrations beneath the light of the stars and lantern-strung trees. The tables were adorned with crystal wear, roses and greenery, all romantically lit by candles. Each guest had a hand-written place card and a single flower lovingly laid upon a linen napkin, hand-made by Ebony’s mum.
The party feasted on antipasto, canapés and shared mains, and the gorgeous wedding cake was a Laura Swan creation of a semi-naked white chocolate base with vanilla mascarpone and passionfruit curd. In case any guest was still hungry, there was a second, richer sticky date cake with Madagascan vanilla cream cheese glaze complete with drizzled caramel.
After their unforgettable day, they offer some advice to those planning their wedding - “Stay true to what you and your husband-to-be want!”. Looking at the beautiful couple, it’s evident that the only thing they truly needed to make their day special was each other.
