It’s not every day that one of your own gets married, so when they do it’s extra special… Team SW’s very own (and very beautiful!) Chelsea married her long-time sweetheart Che in the hinterland of Byron Bay.

Everything about the event was personally detailed, rustically beautiful and made with love. These details flowed through from the engagement, right down to the invitations, hand-drawn by a friend of the couple.

The pair took a drive one Saturday morning up in the hills behind Byron Bay (a beloved spot of the two), and it was here that Che popped the question. Hidden in a pastry bag (be still our beating hearts!) was an opal and ruby ring that he had designed himself to be as unique and beautiful as his bride to be.

In the spring of last year, among 125 of their loved ones – the couple tied the knot.

Looking every bit the bohemian bride in her cream and white silk Lola Varma top and skirt, with SAMANTHA WILLS jewels, Chelsea walked down to aisle to the acoustic notes of the guitarist, to marry her handsome man. He wore black and navy, with his brown leather shoes adding a dapper touch of vintage.

Rather than bridesmaids and groomsmen, they exchanged vows surrounded by their friends and family, beneath the arbour that Che himself crafted from old hardwood timber.

The reception hall was filled with native flowers that had been lovingly gathered from friend’s and family’s gardens and were arranged amongst candles along the banquet tables. Beautiful linen tablecloths and 125 napkins were hand-made by the bride’s grandmother, and created the perfect setting for the party to enjoy a 3-course sumptuous feast, before moving on to the exquisite 3-tiered vegan and organic cake extravaganza!

The rest of the night was spent dancing and laughing till the early hours before the newlyweds jetted off to Bali for some rest and recovery!

We first stumbled upon the amazing Quincy Lane after some late night Instagram stalking, and what can we say… one look at their signature gold foiled meringues, and we were hooked! The Sydney-based dessert artists lovingly create these lighter-than-air delicacies, and we were delighted to include their signature dessert in our media activation early last year, for our SW Bridal collection – ‘Of The Night’.

With the delectable detailing and touches of gold, their sweet treats have quickly become a wedding day staple. We caught up with Karen, the creative genius behind Quincy Lane for some bridal dessert and styling tips.

How long have you worked in the industry?

15 + years

What inspired you to join the industry?

A passion for food & baking, and creating beautiful sweets that make people happy

What is your signature dessert?

Meringues - colourful, flavoured & crispy on the outside, soft & ‘mallowey’ on the inside

Is this your go-to dessert for a wedding favour?

Definitely! Packaged in clear boxes & presented beautifully – the perfect gift

What are your suggestions for how a bride can incorporate her personal style into wedding desserts?

So many brides are having sweet tables instead of desserts now, so they can really incorporate their own tastes in the styling of the dessert table. There are so many different options - vintage floral, modern geometric, pretty pinks & stunning whites. They can work alongside their stylist to add personal touches of colours & flavours. The ideas really are limitless!

A year ago last month, our beautiful SW bride Mel tied the knot to (her now husband) Haran, in one of the most stunning weddings we have ever seen. To make this an even more special event, our very own Samantha was there as Maid Of Honour to her very best friend of 20+ years, after meeting during their first day at Port Macquarie High School!

Mel & Haran first met working together in an agency, where a friendship between the two ensued and (helped along by some DJ styling from Haran) blossomed into a romance. Haran knew the way to her heart with a down to earth, yet perfect proposal - atop the Flat Rock lookout, overlooking her family’s property on NSW’s mid-north coast.  This love of nature was a key factor for the two, who now live in London, when planning the big day.

With the lush natural surrounds of the Great Conservatory in London’s Syon Park, it’s easy to see why this was the place chosen for their special day. This floral and botanical theme was worthy of every bride’s inspirational Pinterest board.

Haran and his groomsmen looked the part in their suave navy suits and wine penny loafers, each infusing a touching tribute to Mel’s late father with their boutonniere created with coloured succulents, in homage to the succulent garden he had loved. Mel’s stunning bridal party each wore a unique dress to reflect the individual nature of their personality and style, along with understated SAMANTHA WILLS Bridal jewels. Entering behind them, Mel was an absolute vision in her chic, strapless gown and exquisite lace veil, and champagne coloured Jimmy Choo heels.

After the ceremony, the party moved down to the lakeside lawns for canapés, elderflower spritz and champagne, all served to the sounds of a steel drummer a nod to the Notting Hill Carnival taking place that very weekend.

Feasting on a sit down, two-course dinner, the mood then shifted towards the festivities, with the bride then changing into a pair of exquisite bespoke chandelier earrings, designed especially for her by Samantha. Mel also then changed her Choos for a pair of brand new, white Nike Air Max’s – the perfect dancing shoes for what was to come!

It was an occasion truly filled with love and the happiest of memories, with the couple opting for a ‘familymoon’ in honour of the beloved family and friends who had flown in from all over the globe to celebrate.

UPDATE: We are also absolutely delighted to announce that the couple is expecting their first child early next year!

Every woman imagines fireworks are filling the sky when the man of her dreams pops the big question, but for Kristen’s special moment… they really were (just about!).

Celebrating 3 years since their budding gym friendship evolved into a romance, Kristen and Joel were holidaying in Hamilton Island. After a dinner at Bommie, the couple headed out to the balcony to watch the fireworks, only to find they had just missed them. Joel quickly kerbed Kristen’s disappointment when, on one knee, he presented a ring and asked her to marry him.

Their magical day took place on the property of a friend of the couple, at “Barwon Bank” – a stunning heritage property on (as the name would suggest!) the banks of the Barwon River. Given the understated, natural beauty of the house and its surrounds, the couple opted for a ‘back to basics’ theme, with most of the decorations being made by the pair, including most of the furniture.

Married in a private ceremony, an exquisite Kristen was dressed in the floor-length lace ‘Kate’ gown by the bohemian bridal designers Grace Loves Lace. Teamed effortlessly with SAMANTHA WILLS Bridal & FINE jewels, some choice family heirlooms (something old, borrowed and blue) and Steve Madden shoes, she was a bohemian bridal vision. Looking every bit the debonair groom, Joel donned a navy MJ Bale suit, complete with a crisp white shirt and brown leather shoes.

The 90 wedding guests were greeted with cocktails and giant balloons upon arrival, where they then relaxed in the spacious sunroom and surrounding lawns, awaiting the arrival of the newlyweds. Festivities kicked off soon after, with all experiencing a Shutter Hub photo booth, live music and a dessert bar – with the goodies lovingly made by the groom’s Aunty. Espresso martinis and doughnuts were brought in after sunset, and for those who could still move after all the amazing food, the dancing continued well into the night.

With the amazing food, bright bursts of flowers and the happiness radiating from the couple, it was truly a spectacular day for all involved.

Wednesday the 8th of June was a day filled with happiness, excitement, romance and a whole lot of love! Recently, we had the pleasure of planning a special proposal for a very special couple; Trung and Dung, who would be celebrating their 3-year anniversary on this day. Trung reached out to us to share their incredible love story, and to express the endless love he has for his beautiful girlfriend. He also let us know that he was planning on proposing and that as his girlfriend was an avid fan of the SAMANTHA WILLS brand, he was hoping we could be involved in one way or another. We were so blown away by this and so excited be a part of this beautiful love story, and so many ideas as to how we could help in making this proposal unforgettable.

After weeks of brainstorming and planning, it was decided that the special day would be an anniversary celebration with a twist. Dung would be guided through the day’s activities by Samantha's handwritten clues, each one directing them to the next destination. Little did she know the final clue would lead her to Trung down on one knee!

Before we knew it, the day was upon us. It started in David Jones' Elizabeth St store, where a mysterious shopper was waiting with an iPad to show Dung a special video message from Samantha, congratulating the couple on their anniversary and inviting them to SW HQ for high tea. There was a beautiful spread of delicately delicious cakes and mouthwatering pastries awaiting them, thanks to the creative & talented John Ralley at Textbook Boulangerie-Patisserie. (If you are looking for somewhere to go for a coffee plus a cheeky dessert, this is most definitely your place!). Meanwhile, a sneaky Team SW member hid a written clue in the couple’s car, directing them to Bondi Icebergs for a delightful lunch. From there, the next clue led them to Sydney Signature Day Spa for a couples massage.

The final clue directed them the last stop; the stunning Pier One Hotel in Walsh Bay. Featuring breathtaking waterfront views of the iconic Harbor Bridge, Opera House and Luna Park, this location was absolute perfection. The Harbor balcony suite, provided by Pier One for this special surprise, was lovingly filled with beautiful white blooms (from Harry’s Wholesale), cream coloured drapes, and of course our staple white marble. The setting was complete with the sweet sound of Jordan Millar on the guitar, with candlelight creating a dreamy, romantic glow.

The couple were handed blindfolds upon arrival before being led to their incredible room. Sitting among the candles on the balncony, was a little white SW ring box containing a very special promise ring (Trung used the SAMANTHA WILLS 'Promise Of Dawn' ring set to propose, while they will design the actual engagement ring together).

Dung took off her blindfold to see Trung down on bended knee, and as the sun set, the magical moment came to life. Trung asked the question he had been longing to ask all day, and we are very happy to say, she said YES!

Congratulations Trung and Dung, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!

On a day that started like any other, Ebony and her boyfriend Heath set out for a bushwalk with their two dogs and a picnic (and unbeknownst to Ebony, an engagement ring). Perched atop a hill and overlooking the beautiful surrounds, Heath asked Ebony to marry him, and she tearfully accepted.

The Australian outdoors had been a long-time love of this gorgeous couple, as well as the setting for their engagement, so it was only natural for this to be the theme and backdrop of their special day. With the rolling mountains and stunning old buildings on the Belltrees Station property in the Hunter Valley, this proved to be the dream venue for the couple’s ‘I Do’s’.

It was truly an intimate affair for the couple, who planned the day themselves. The ceremony took place between two farmers’ cottages on the property, where original church pews had been set up and lovingly decorated with greenery from the surrounds. It was here that their sixteen friends and family sat to watch Ebony walk down the aisle in her breathtaking beaded bohemian gown created by Bo & Luca, to the tune of Angus & Julia Stone’s ‘The Wedding Song’. She wore SAMANTHA WILLS FINE jewels, as well as a headpiece beneath her exquisite veil, and Heath cut a handsome figure as he awaited her arrival dressed in his dark navy suit. In keeping with the intimate tone of the day, it was their close friend who performed the ceremony and married the two.

Nestled on the banks of the Hunter River, the bridal party kicked off the celebrations beneath the light of the stars and lantern-strung trees. The tables were adorned with crystal wear, roses and greenery, all romantically lit by candles. Each guest had a hand-written place card and a single flower lovingly laid upon a linen napkin, hand-made by Ebony’s mum.

The party feasted on antipasto, canapés and shared mains, and the gorgeous wedding cake was a Laura Swan creation of a semi-naked white chocolate base with vanilla mascarpone and passionfruit curd. In case any guest was still hungry, there was a second, richer sticky date cake with Madagascan vanilla cream cheese glaze complete with drizzled caramel.

After their unforgettable day, they offer some advice to those planning their wedding - “Stay true to what you and your husband-to-be want!”. Looking at the beautiful couple, it’s evident that the only thing they truly needed to make their day special was each other.

As Winter encroaches on us here in Sydney, we can't help but dream of corners of the world where it is always sunny (or so we like to think!). We recently discovered the beauty that is W Maldives, located of course in the idyllic Maldives, where every day looks like a dream.

Whether relaxing with friends & family or honeymooning with your lover, this is one place you'll want to escape to.

Growing up in the Northern Queensland town of Ingham, Loren and Brett first met during their high school years at their first job - the local Coles. Celebrating their 8th anniversary in the idyllic city of London, Brett surprised Loren with a hotel upgrade at the Park Plaza on Westminster Bridge. After a full day of exploring London, Brett proposed that night with a beautiful round cut diamond set in white gold, in the privacy of their suite overlooking the glistening city lights, in a moment the pair will forever remember.

The couple’s ceremony took place at Eco Studio Fellini, nestled at the base of the Heritage Listed Springbrook National Park, within the picturesque Gold Coast hinterland. The lush green forest, flourishing gardens and the surrounding lily pond reminded the pair of home back in Ingham, QLD, and was the perfect setting for the special day.

Wearing a stunning gown by Karen Willis Holmes, and Samantha Wills jewels, Loren’s bridal outfit was completed with an exquisite lace veil as she walked down the aisle towards a beaming Brett. Her 4 bridesmaids all wore gorgeous grey dresses with varying styles of nude flats, and the entire bridal party carried and wore the deep red flowers of the special day.

The ceremony took place on a beautifully rustic deck, with the gorgeous surrounding gardens as the backdrop. Styled by Loren herself, the vintage-inspired reception saw guests seated at long banquet tables, themed with the raspberry and white tones of the event. A 3 course gourmet Italian dinner was prepared for the guests by Fellini, followed by two decadent 3-tiered cakes; one with white chocolate & raspberry, and the other with salted caramel & chocolate.

“The whole night was memorable to us. We’ve been together for 10 years now, and to have all of our closet friends and family that we’ve met over that journey together was amazing” says Loren. The pair continued the journey with their honeymoon in the United States, driving through California and spending Christmas in New York.
