On previous trips to South beach, Miami, I have dined at The Raleigh Hotel, and fell in love with its boho luxe eatery area. Think old palm trees that have provided shade for diners from the 1940’s through to now, dark wicker peacock chairs & dining under light bulbs suspended from the tree branches. Extending out to the most art deco pool you will ever lay eyes on, The Raleigh Hotel, like most of the gorgeous hotels on Collins Street, will make you feel like you have stepped back in time.

Known for its (stunning) art deco architecture, Miami is the place to head for fun & sun. All the hotels on the Collins Street strip back onto the beach, and if you prefer sand beneath your feet, but still mojito in hand, the bar service extends from your hotel down to the ocean.

I love the thought of staying at a place that people have been staying at since the 1940’s, the glamour of the times & the changing fashion of the crowds over the years I find incredibly intriguing. In the hotel lifts, you will see old photos of the property, in beautiful black & white – they are stunning to look at while staying in the very location. Having resided at The Raleigh Hotel on my most recent work trip to the 305 (which was a VERY welcomed escape from the New York winter!) it was very low key & relaxing (except for the 80 kilometre an hour jetski Will took me on – sweet jesus!), made even more so by the poolside service of fish tacos & mojitos.

As the property is east facing, make sure you get up early to catch at least one sunrise up over the ocean, and for the best sun down, we headed one evening to the Mondrian for a cocktail or 3 in the hammock by the bar.

I am not into clubbing, but if you are – Miami is the place to do it! Sadly if you are looking for recommendations on that scene, you are on the wrong blog! However, I highly suggest dinner at Pubbelly Sushi – specifically the Tuna Crispy Rice Rolls & the Miso Black Cod + a night cap cocktail at The Broken Shaker.

Some photos from our adventure below (pool shot supplied by RaleighHotel.com). It was my first time using my brand new selfie stick that Will got me for Christmas – clearly I have some more practice to do with angles & lighting!

Welcome to Miami! – SWx
